FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Farmer City, IL) Aug 3, 2018 – Jeremy Nichols came into the weekend with a slim 6 point lead over defending Series Champ Jarred Krick. With the largest field of the season on hand, twenty-nine cars, the evening was bound for some exciting action and it did not disappoint.

The evening started off with Westville, IL driver Lance Evans tying the track record with a lap of 15.31 seconds in HP Machine Qualifying. In RacingBids.com Heat Race #1 we saw point leader Jeremy Nichols come from the outside front row starting spot to win the 10 lap affair. It was Jeremy’s fourth heat win of the season on the MSSC tour. Heat race #2 sponsored by STL Motorsport Magazine went to the pole sitter Lance Evans, keeping his fast night alive after his blistering track record tying lap. In the final heat race sponsored by Dynamic Drivelines we saw Joel Funk take the win after starting from the pole position.

The top two finishers from each heat were locked into the JAZ Products Dash. Jeremy Nichols was the lucky one to draw the pole for the JAZ Products Dash and he held the lead the whole way to victory. Lance Evans came home 2nd, Nick Macklin 3rd, Matt Hammond 4th, Joel Funk 5th, and Timmy Dick 6th.

It was going to take the XS Power Batteries B Feature to determine the last two starting spots of the 4th Annual What Up Dog 40. The twelve lap affair saw its share of cautions as drivers fought attrition. It was Side Bite Designs and Race Wraps Rookie of the Year points leader Wayne Huffman III who came home with the victory and Doug Berbaum took the other transfer spot into the A main. Two provisional positions went to Farmer City Raceway track point leader Shawn Ziemer and  Bill Figgins were the recipients of those.

The field of 22 was set and they were ready to battle for 40 laps with $1,000 on the line. All eyes were on pole sitter and points leader Jeremy Nichols as everyone wanted to see if he would continue his series dominance, but in a different car as he was competing in the 67R that is normally driven by Rudy Zaragoza. Jeremy jumped out to an early race lead and never looked back as the race went caution free. Misfortune from Lance Evans, who was running second, allowed Jeremy to stretch his lead out to nearly half a lap over eventual runner-up Joel Funk, who started 5th. Timmy Dick rounded out the podium and was the highest finishing Side Bite Designs and Race Wraps Rookie of the Race. Several drivers made runs through the field including Matt Maier who came home fourth after starting back in the 10th position.

The win was Jeremy’s fourth of the year on the MSSC tour and he picked up the $1,000 payday. Nichols was also able to extend his point lead out of Farmer City with Jerrad Krick finishing back in the 6th position.

The Midwest Street Stock Championship will be back in action on Aug 18th at Peoria Speedway for makeup event “Dirty 30.” Then on Aug 24th the series will be in action at Jacksonville Speedway for the James “Bubba” Grant Memorial.
